Jaikishan – The Eternal Prince of Hindi Film Music
By sandeepapte, Jan 28th, 2009
She is Jaikishan’s darling daughter! Although she lost her beloved dad at an early age, Bhairavi Jaikishan reconstructs her image of him in this ’straight from the heart’ conversation with Sandeep Apte. Bhairavi has NEVER spoken about her father before!

No word can express my joy of having a new article on our beloved Jaikishen. After a very long gap I could read mention of Bhairavi and Pallavi Jaikishen. Not only they, but we, the fans of Shankar Jaikishan are very proud of this immortal pair. It is also great to learn that they even this time say every tune of SJ not as Jaikishen’s or Shanker’s. We wish Aranyah Jai Tara would become a music-personality. Great regards to Jaikishan’s family. Thanks to Mr. Sandeep Apte for this wonderful article.

Sandeepbhai, a very beautiful article on the prince charming of Hindi filmdom Jaikishanji. As a child and as a college student I was lucky to see him perform before us in St. Xavier’s College and also in Rang Bhavan near the college.
SJ were the best and success never left Jaikishanji after Barsaat. Very touching mentioning of Bhairavi in your article. She definitely has to be proud of musical genius of her father and most importantly of one of the best human being from Bollywood. He was one in a billion and since September 1971, I have missed him but his music makes life pleasurable!

Undoubted the greatest composers of all time. I have in my collection about 110 of their films among a total of 170 or so. Can anyone help me to buy their entire work? or at least tell me where and how it is available?

It is good to hear from the fans of SJ. I am too, one of them from Kerala. Although I know little hindi excepting for the academic study I have done, film music will remain immortal with such stalwarts as Shanker Jaikishen

As a great fan since late fifties to
S J music when i had to tune to radio pakisthan and radio ceylon as vivid bharathy has very limited time to indian fil music. i used to write to S J and was disappointed to get reply from his secretary perhaps of the duo being very busy.
Such was the influence of their music on me that i could not concentrate on my preparations for engineering
exams next day what with superhits from aashiq, hariyali our raastha, dil tera deewana played by binaca geethmala with the mention of S J names by AMEEN SAYANI in his baritonevoice in radio ceylon!!!
And to think this is from one who has very little knowledge of hindi and has seen just one or two hindi films!!!

I was thrilled to read the interview of Bhairavi Jaikishan and all credit for this goes to Sandeep Apte.Unfortunately, daughter of the great maestro could not get the opportunity to enjoy his creations. The entire family should be proud of Jaikishan for his contributions to the world of music.I have been a great fan of SJ’s music since 1969 but alas before long Jaikishan was no more.Since 1970 I have read all articles on SJ whether by Raju Bharatan or any critic.I hereby appeal to Raju Bharatan and others to let me know if they have copies of articles written by them on music directors(more particularly SJ)in any magazines like Filmfare or newspaper.I would like to have collections of such articles.
